Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

When Jesus said “I will give you rest.”

means that living in a close relationship with Jesus, our human burdens — our guilt, fear, striving for acceptance and approval are replaced by peace, forgiveness and joy through a secure relationship with God.

God forgives us and loves us even with all our weaknesses – maybe because of our weaknesses. Just think of the characters He chose as his apostles.

Accepting – and delighting - in the fact that we are God’s children takes away any need to prove our identity. “I am a son of God, a close friend of Yesh [ the name I use for Jesus in my prayer life]

I don’t need a big bank balance, smart clothes, a fine home to ascertain my position in society. These are fine. But unnecessary.

With God alive in my heart, I can relax. Rest. Living in the Kingdom of God – the state of divine love - simplifies life and slows down the ageing process.

I work, not to prove myself but simply to express God’s love in my heart.

If worries suddenly overwhelm you, turn to God, hold his hand and the rest will come.

Alive with Jesus in the Kingdom of God, makes life - with all its vicissitudes - a joy - even when you are aged 87.
