Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“The kingdom of heaven (the reign of God) is like… a treasure, a pearl of great price, a net”

The reign of God is mind blowing. Beyond the reach of direct words. Hinted at by parables.

Ask yourself, how has my relationship with God, my Christianity, enriched my life?

Personally, my life has been radically enhanced by my relationship with Yesh who, as God, is like gravity. Everywhere; though unseen. Living with God creates Shalom, a heart overflowing with joy, much more than mere absence of conflict

God’s love is like a net that carries within it everyone – though all too many do not embrace God’s love.

Does your life attract - or at least tempt – others to enjoy life in God’s kingdom?

Though my memory is not as it used to be, a sentence that is therein ingrained is Frederick Nietzsche’s “I might believe in the Redeemer if his followers looked more redeemed.”

Is your life joyful and hopeful – and thus clearly redeemed? No need to go around singing ‘alleluia, praise the Lord.’ Just let your hope and love be seen.
