still working to help God make this World a better place
“My soul magnifies the Lord. My spirit rejoices in God my Saviour”
As each year passes, I can, more closely identify my life with these thoughts of Mary.
My magnifying the Lord is not about making God greater - He is already infinitely great - but celebrating, and being grateful for His greatness. Just think of the size of the Universe And his love for us all - and think of all the gifts God has given me in my life.
The faith, hope, love and energy I have are there to serve others. What wisdom there is, has taught me to keep my homilies short and aimed at trying to help the congregation; not show off my knowledge.
Mary’s life faded rather rapidly into obscurity as her son’s life matured. Her Son, Jesus, was able to fulfil his vocation thanks to his mother who carried him in her womb and gave him birth.
It is all too easy to take all the gifts we have – our family, friends, our health - for granted.
Ask yourself, “How often do I thank God for all I have and am? How can I more efficiently use my gifts – including my time each week - in the service of my communities?”. Seeing yourself as God’s helper like Mary, gives life a finer edge.
Thanks to Mary, we know the God who speaks in words and actions. I thank God for Mary.
And I thank Mary for God Incarnate – whose life and teachings enrich our lives.
