still working to help God make this World a better place

Third Sunday of Easter

He was known to them in the breaking of the bread.”

Walking along with man they did not recognise as Jesus,it was at ‘the breaking of the bread – shades of the Last Supper and the Feeding of the Four and then Five Thousand,  communal activities – that they realised who he was.

Ask yourself, where, apart from at Mass and Holy Communion, what helps you to recognise God’s presence?

Quite a few families I know have a crucifix and or a picture of Our Lady on their kitchen wall and whoever is cooking salutes these before starting to cook. It reminds them that God is in their family and that their culinary efforts will benefit Jesus Christ alive in each of their family.

I am no cook but I sense God’s presence in my heart and so I can share my feelings and impressions with Yesh; the nickname I use for Jesus Christ who in Hebrew would be known as Yeshua. The risen Christ is, as gravity, everywhere and just as silently.

Beauty, suffering and humour are topics for my conversation with Yesh. As are the weather, football, clothes and tattoos and clothes people wear. How charming some children are and how tough the lives of people in wheelchairs must be, and what I think of people who drive in posh cars far too fast. So as not to shock you, I will not say the fruity words and images  which would have been there in the language of Galilean fisherman under Roman occupation and which Jesus never criticised. One of he reasons he is my best friend, Is he yours?
